On March 8, 2021, DHS released a new designation allowing Venezuelans to apply for TPS and Employment Authorization Documents. “This designation is due to extraordinary and temporary conditions in Venezuela that prevent nationals from returning safely, including a complex humanitarian crisis marked by widespread hunger and malnutrition, a growing influence and presence of non-state armed groups, repression, and a crumbling infrastructure.”
To be eligible for TPS, Venezuelans must submit an Application for Temporary Protected Status and proof of:
(1) Venezuelan citizenship;
(2) Residence in the United States since March 8, 2021; AND
(3) Continuous physically presence in the United States since March 9, 2021.
